"I never realized
that growing up in Brooklyn, flying jets, working on Wall Street
and starring in a sci-fi series was the prerequisite for the
fast-paced demands of talk radio," says Jerry Doyle. "But, if
that's what it takes to succeed, I'm glad I did it all."
Doyle works long hours balancing his busy daytime acting career
in television and movies with his nationally syndicated evening
radio career. Listeners will enjoy Doyle's anecdotal humor,
satirical observations and well-rounded social commentary. His
ability to choose compelling topics provokes lively
conversations on the issues of the day.
The program is caller-driven, issue-oriented, and fast-paced.
Listeners enjoy Doyle's wit, as well as his ability to seriously
engage callers from across the nation in fascinating
conversations. Doyle is best known for playing the character of
Michael Garibaldi on the Emmy Award winning TV series Babylon 5.
In July of 1992, Doyle shot the pilot for Babylon 5, and in
1998, completed his 110th episode of the hit series landing
Doyle on the cover of TV Guide Magazine.
The real Jerry Doyle is not far removed from the character that
he played, as they both uphold high standards, are outspoken and
live with vivid pasts. The Jerry Doyle
Show is a mix of politics, pop culture and current events.
Doyle's strong opinions, diverse background and quick wit can
appeal to all listening audiences. At the height of a successful
ten-year career on Wall Street, Doyle decided on a new
challenge. "I was 35 years old and in a position to take a shot
at whatever I wanted to try," says Doyle. "The Air Force said I
was too old to fly fighter jets. I thought about becoming a
fishing boat captain, before deciding that acting seemed pretty
cool," said Doyle.
In 1991, he packed up and headed to Hollywood. With no prior
acting experience, Doyle hit the streets and phones with a
vengeance. Within weeks of arriving in Los Angeles, he landed
his first job. He was hired as a "day player" on The Bold and
the Beautiful, this role lasted almost a year. He then went on
to star in the long-running sci-fi series Babylon 5. After the
success of Babylon 5, Doyle starred in the TNT original movies
The River of Souls, A Call to Arm and to play many other roles.
Taking a hiatus from acting in 2000, Doyle pursued yet another
personal goal. A long time political junkie, he ran for the
U.S House of Representatives for California's 24th District.
While the March primary saw him become the Republican
Congressional Nominee, in the November election race he came up
short. Doyle grew up in Brooklyn, NY, the eldest son of a police
officer and a stay-at-home
mom. He received a Bachelor of Science
Degree in Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical
University, while also receiving his flight training.
After graduation, he joined the marketing and sales division of
Falcon Jet Corporation. Doyle recently completed shooting an
independent film entitled Open House and the HBO original
feature Lost Treasure. He has also starred in Code Hunter,
Devious Beings and The Long Ride
Home. His series work includes: NYPD Blue, JAG, Martial Law,
Sliders, Beverly Hills 90210, Homefront, and Reasonable Doubts.
Doyle has also done extensive voice over work on the animated
series, Duckman, and Captain Simian, along with numerous
national commercial voice campaigns. Active in the community,
Doyle has served as President of the Easter Seal Society,
Children's Hospital Board of Trustees and the Multiple Sclerosis
Board of Directors. He has raised funds for many charities
including Disabled American Veterans, UCLA Medical Center,
Breast Cancer, Aids Walk-LA, Cystic Fibrosis and the Motion
Picture and Television Fund. He has received numerous awards and
accolades including Honorary F-16 Test Pilot, Honorary Naval
Aviator and Distinguished Supporter of the Nation's Space
Program.
